Ingredients

  • 2 ounces vodka Tito’s recommended
  • ½ ounce coffee liqueur Kahlúa preferred
  • 1 ounce freshly brewed espresso cooled slightly or cold brew concentrate
  • ½ ounce simple syrup adjust for sweetness
  • Ice
  • Coffee beans for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Strainer
  • Martini or coupe glass
  • Jigger or measuring spoons
  • Spoon for simple syrup (optional)

Method

  1. Prepare Espresso
  2. Brew 1 ounce of fresh espresso and allow it to cool slightly. Hot espresso can dilute the cocktail if added directly to ice. Alternatively, use cold brew concentrate for convenience.
  3. Combine Ingredients
  4. Add vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  5. Shake Vigorously
  6. Shake for 15–20 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and the mixture is well-chilled. Shaking well is key for a foamy top.
  7. Strain into Glass
  8. Using a strainer, pour the cocktail into a chilled martini or coupe glass. The strainer helps achieve a smooth, frothy surface.
  9. Garnish and Serve
  10. Float 2–3 coffee beans on top for presentation. Serve immediately and enjoy the rich, creamy coffee flavor.

Notes

  • Espresso Temperature: Ensure the espresso is slightly cooled to prevent melting the ice.
  • Adjust Sweetness: Coffee liqueur already adds sweetness; reduce or omit simple syrup if desired.

Variations:

  • Vanilla Espresso Martini: Add ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • Mocha Espresso Martini: Include a teaspoon of chocolate liqueur.
  • Spiced: Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg while shaking.
  • Alternative Spirits: Substitute gin or rum for vodka for a unique twist.
  • Serving Tip: Use a chilled glass for best presentation and taste.
This Espresso Martini recipe delivers a café-style cocktail at home with minimal effort. Its smooth texture, rich coffee flavor, and frothy top make it a perfect choice for coffee lovers and cocktail enthusiasts alike.
